Theoretical and practical integration of linguistics into law-making and legal administration.
Shuhrat Norqizilovich Kuchimov graduated from the Faculty of Uzbek Philology of Tashkent State Pedagogical Institute named after Nizami in 1990 and began his career as a lecturer at the same institute.
From 1993 to 1996 he was a senior researcher at the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan. In 1995 he defended his candidate (PhD) dissertation, “The Language of the Laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan”.
From 1996 to 2016 he served as head of department, dean and vice-rector at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. In 2004 he defended his doctoral dissertation, “Scientific and Theoretical Problems of Expressing Legal Norms in the Uzbek Language (a Linguo-Legal Analysis)”.
He is currently Professor at the Department of Uzbek Language and Literature of Tashkent State University of Law and a member of the Terminology Commission under the Cabinet of Ministers. He lectures on Legal Discourse, Jurilinguistics and Foundations of Forensic Linguistic Expertise, and runs training seminars at the Higher Training Courses of the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Lawyers’ Training Centre of the Ministry of Justice.
He is the author of more than 150 publications, including textbooks, monographs and peer-reviewed articles on language and law.
